Schuylkill River Sojourn - the week long paddle on the Schuylkill arrives at Lock 60 on the Schuylkill Canal at about 3 PM for its overnight visit to Mont Clare. This is the twelveth year the sojourners will be visiting and we are all looking forward to a great time.
The Schuylkill Canal Association will be the host for the evening. Our river guests will enjoy a delicious dinner, program provided by the National Park Service and a comfortable setting for the night into the next day, Thursday, June 10.
We invite the public to join us for dinner & the program being held at St. Michael's Park, Jacobs St., Mont Clare. SCA is very excited about the program this year; joining us for the evening will be Cap't Hummel, a popular canal boat captain who will provide us all with his stories and song as he recollects his journeys along the Schuylkill Canal back in the day. This is a great treat; Richard Pawlings, History Alive, will re-enact this interesting character for all who attend. Definitely a must see program starting at 7 PM. There is no charge to attend the program. And plan to join us for dinner starting at 6 PM and served by Otterbein United Methodist Church. For $10 per person you will be served an all you can eat spaghetti and meatballs dinner with all the trimmings, salad & warm bread. Dessert, beverages and coffee will be available to provide you with a complete meal to enjoy. Some of the proceeds from the dinner do go directly back to Otterbein to fund their youth after-school programs and to SCA in helping us maintain and preserve the park.
Reservations must be made if you plan to join us for dinner, click onto the registration block to make your reservation and pay for your meal ahead of time.
